Los Exconxuraos 2026: three days of the Middle Ages in Llanera

From July 3 to 5, 2026, the Ables exhibition complex in the municipality of Llanera will transform into a real medieval town. The Los Exconxuraos festival, one of the most popular historical events in Asturias, will take place here, attracting thousands of visitors every year.

The celebration is dedicated to events from the early 15th century. In 1408, the residents of Llanera were excommunicated after a conflict with representatives of the Bishop of Oviedo. Only in 1412, after the bishop changed, did they receive forgiveness by making a penitent procession to Oviedo. This is the story that the festival participants recreate.

After dinner, a knight tournament begins, where participants demonstrate their weapon skills and medieval combat techniques.

Exconxuraos Parade

On the morning of July 5, the main historical event of the celebration will take place — the Exconxuraos procession.

Participants recreate the journey that the residents of Llanera undertook more than six centuries ago to obtain church forgiveness. This parade is considered a symbol of unity among the municipality’s residents and the culmination of the entire festival.
