Cider lovers in Asturias are already marking the date on their calendars: on June 7, 2026, the Preba de la Sidra de Gascona 2026 will take place on the famous Gascona street in Oviedo — one of the most well-known cider festivals in Asturias.
This is not just a festival, but a true folk tasting of the first cider of the new season. It is here that residents and visitors of the region can try products from the best cider houses and choose their favorite.
What is Preba de la Sidra?
The word preba in Asturian means “tasting” or “sampling.” Every spring, cider houses begin bottling the new harvest of cider made from last season’s apples. At this moment, a public evaluation of the drink takes place.
Throughout the day, visitors can taste cider from different producers and participate in voting. At the same time, a professional jury gives their assessment.
Winners are determined in two categories:
public voting;
professional tasting.

A festival with over twenty years of history
The tradition of Preba de la Sidra has existed for more than two decades. It was initiated by the Association of Owners of Gascona Street establishments, which aims to preserve and promote the cider culture of Asturias.
Today, the festival is considered one of the most iconic events related to cider and attracts thousands of visitors each year. Last year, around 10,000 people attended the celebration.
